Social marketing programs use commercial marketing and distribution techniques to make products and services with a public health benefit widely available and affordable. Social marketing also encourages healthy behaviors through mass media advertising and behavior change communication programs.

PSP-One conducts research on the effectiveness of various social marketing techniques and tools, particularly in reproductive health, in a wide variety of emerging market contexts. PSP-One also develops and manages social marketing programs in the field and can provide technical assistance to ongoing initiatives. The project advocates a flexible, context-specific approach that maximizes sustainability while achieving the desired health outcomes. In addition, PSP-One explores and brokers partnerships with commercial manufacturers and distributors in order to increase the use of sustainable products in the developing world.
